ABOUT ME

sheetz_web_photo_BTS.png

I am a writer, filmmaker, and educator with a passion for visual storytelling that spans over two decades. My journey has taken me from crafting short films and narrative projects to teaching the art of cinematography, screenwriting, and production to aspiring filmmakers. Whether behind the camera or in the classroom, my work is driven by the belief that every creative decision should serve the story, resonating deeply with audiences.

As a freelance cinematographer, photographer, producer and editor, I’ve brought countless visions to life, from commercials and music videos to narrative films and corporate projects. My credits include features as well as short films including Beyond Good & Evil, selected for the 23rd Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, and recent short films like Motive for Murder and The Fullness of Life. These experiences have honed my expertise in lighting and cinematography, composition, and post-production, ensuring every project I undertake reflects my commitment to impactful visual storytelling.

In addition to my creative work, I’ve spent over a decade teaching at the collegiate level, where I've loved sharing my knowledge of motion picture production, editing, and screenwriting with asipring young voices. As a professor, I take pride in mentoring students and equipping them with the skills to succeed in the ever-evolving media landscape. My current project, Visual Storytelling from Script to Screen: A Comprehensive Production Guide, distills my broad experience into a resource designed to inspire and empower filmmakers at all levels.
